BRICK WALLS

We all have to face obstacles and hurdles in life. It is the same for all. Life is unfair for all. We have to be prepared for it. Trust me on this- you will fall down, you will get hurt, there will be people trying to stop you from achieving your goal, there will be days when you’ll feel lost, betrayed, wronged. Like I said, it is the same for all. But then why is it that some people are more successful than others?...why do some people lead a better life than others?...why are some people so rich and some so poor?...if everyone has to face similar adversities in life why is it that some people suffer while others prosper?...

The reason is very simple. We all face difficulties, but what makes us different from the others is how we choose to respond to those difficulties. When something bad happens, there are three ways in which people usually respond-

  • Their self-esteem falls apart. Their emotions take over their brain. They can’t think clearly. These people generally have the ability, resources and intelligence to accomplish what they want to but they become weak when things don’t go as expected and begin to lose hope. Gradually, as life goes on and they have to face more hardships, they cry, they lose all hope and finally give up.

  • Then, there are people who blame their luck for whatever happens to them. When they have to go through hard times, they blame life for it. “Life is not fair”, “I am so unlucky”, “god is favoring the others” are the common phrases you would have heard from these people. They are always making excuses. They want to succeed, but they refuse to accept their mistakes. They are always blaming others, luck and life for whatever they did wrong.

  • They accept their mistakes and learn from them. They don’t blame life or luck for their bad times. Neither do they sit and cry. They don’t let their emotions take control of them and they don’t get mad when everything is going bad for them. They always remain in control of their actions and think clearly before taking action. These are the people who ultimately succeed.

So here are a few important things which you need to remember-

→ “You will fall down, you will get hurt but there are better things to do than wallow in self-pity”

→ Have a positive attitude. Believe in yourself. Build your self-esteem.
“If you think you can or if you think you can’t, either way you are right”

→Never give up. If you fail once, try again, and keep trying till you succeed.
“A man who succeeds does not succeed because he is braver than the others, it’s because he was brave for ten more minutes.”

→Learn from your mistakes. Making a mistake is alright, but making the same mistake again is not.

→Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment;  so if you’re having a bad day, don’t worry-you might be getting a whole lot of experience.

→Don’t lose hope.

→Brick walls are there for a reason- they are there to stop those from going ahead who don’t want it badly. They are there to separate the ones who want something badly from those who have a casual approach. If you want something badly, you gotta fight for it and overcome the obstacles in your way.

BEST OF LUCK  :)

25 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR IMAGE

1. Do not smell. Use an effective unscented deodorant. Avoid perfume and cologne.

2. Ensure your clothing fits well, is clean and not stained. Dress professionally; slightly better than those around you. Wear nothing extraordinary: psychedelic ties, hats, flashy jewelry and so on.

3. As a female, avoid heavy cosmetics or inappropriate clothing. As a male, keep your hair short and trimmed; same with facial hair.

4. Ensure your fingernails are clean, smooth and well shaped.

5. Pluck hair that sticks out of your ears or nose, between eyebrows, out of moles or other odd places.

6. Look healthy: no red eyes, sniffles or coughing.

7. Brush your teeth frequently. Ensure you have clean-smelling breath.

8. Keep your hair clean and natural-looking.

9. Unless your boss or clients display their own body art, keep your tattoos and piercings covered up.

10. Stand when first meeting someone, no matter who they are.

11. Walk with good posture; stand tall, lift your chin.

12. Sit straight.

13. Make good eye contact while listening and talking.

14. Automatically smile at everyone you see.

15. Shake hands or pat the shoulder of each person you meet or greet.

16. Use a dry, warm hand for handshaking.

17. Allow a comfortable amount of space between you and others.

18. Laugh easily; it makes people relax and makes your face glow.

19. Watch your humor. Avoid jokes about race, disability, sex and so on. Tell jokes about yourself or share funny stories that anyone would enjoy.

20. Appear relaxed, yet energized.

21. Use good manners. Say "please," "thank you," and "excuse me" at all times to everyone regardless of whom you think they are.

22. Use good language. Bad/good examples: "c'mere/come here," "ain't/isn't," "yeah/yes," "nah/no."

23. Acknowledge everyone, ignore no one.

24. Say "goodbye" to everyone as you or they leave.

25. Be proud.

"Pride is the primary reason for good appearance." -- L. Ron Hubbard

The Infamous Persevering Ant!

I have been in an excruciatingly painful situation over the weekend. All weekend I tried, no I should say, struggled to make an electroscope that worked. The roots of this painful situation can be traced back to the day when we were given our science homework assignment in which we had to make a science project. Initially like all other excited students I thought I would make something really cool in physics. But then as new circumstances and situations unfolded in my life, I became very busy with excessive homework that teachers began giving (this is due to the fact that every teacher thinks that her subject is the only thing that we study). And after the homework there were other important things to do like tweeting, facebooking, blogging etc. Sure science project was important but not as important as social networking. So I just made a diminutive electromagnet which also took me some time, but maybe not that much hard work. Consequently I took my little electromagnet to school, showed it to my physics teacher. She told me to use a more powerful battery because the attractive force on the magnet wasn’t so much to attract a big object. When I saw the projects of some other students which were much better than mine, I realized my little electromagnet was nothing much to fetch me good grades. Also I was mocked by my friend for making such a useless project. Therefore in order to get good grades I thought I would remake my project, I took permission from the teacher for the same and she told me make an electroscope which she said would be an easy job.

This brings us to last weekend when I spent the entire Saturday and half my Sunday trying to make an electroscope. Well, technically speaking I did manage to make one, only it was not working. I made numerous attempts to a proper one, wasted a lot of time, money, hard work. But there was no result. In the end I kind of lost it. I became really mad, mad at the teacher, mad at the circumstances, mad at myself. I felt like a loser. I began blaming science, for the fact that it is so tough. I blamed the teacher for telling me to make this. I blamed my luck. And I thought that there was no way I would take science

Then mom told me to take my dump to school and ask the teacher why it is not working. And I took it to school where someone mocked at me for making something which looked like pieces of foil in a jar. That gave me a stronger feeling that my project looked like a dump. I took it home without showing it to the teacher because I could not find her after school, also because I thought I would be kind of embarrassing to show.

This brings us to right now when I am sitting here blogging. The deadline to show the project is Friday and I don’t know what I am gonna do about the science project. But I do know that I am going to do something much better than what I attempted previously and I also know that I am going to do it tonight and it’s going to be great. Mom just went from my room after she caught me blogging and kind of scolded me for blogging despite the fact that I haven’t made my science project and reminded of all the time I have wasted on the electroscope and also blamed for not showing the electroscope to the teacher.
That demoralized me a bit but I am not giving up. After wasting all that time, money, hard work I am going to start all over again and I hope this time I succeed. If I don’t, I’ll try again. Wish me luck. J

"You will fall down, you will get hurt but there are better things to do than wail in self-pity"

"Success is not measured by how high we go up in life but by how many times we bounce back when we fall down. It is this bounce-back ability that determines success."

Fly in the air but stay on ground

Here is an awesome story which my dad told me yesterday. hope you guys like it

There was once a poor tailor, mullah nasirudin. He was able to satisfy his basic needs but he wanted to be rich. He had a habit of taking lottery tickets. Everyday he used to buy a lottery ticket which would cost him 10 rupees. After a year of incessantly buying the lottery tickets, one day the postman came to his house. He said,” Congratulations, you’ve won the lottery!” “Really?!!” “Yes…you are going to get five crore rupees (around 1 million USD)”. Mullah was very happy. He got his money, and then he shut down his tailoring shop and threw away the keys. He started doing all that he had thought he would have done when he became rich. He started drinking every night, gambling, eating out everyday, he bragged to his friends about his wealth.  And gradually he started drifting away from his friends and family. They began disliking him. After a year he realized that he had finished all his money, his health had deteriorated and he had lost his wife and kids. He was regretting everything he had done in that year. He was broke, without family and friends and emotionally shattered. He got his shop’s keys made again. He reopened the shop. And after a year he was back to his good old days. But still he did buy lottery tickets everyday, it was his habit. After a year, the postman again came to his house. “Hey! You came again to my house?! This time I haven’t won the lottery, right?”
“Yes, you have!” “Oh no! Now I will want to do that drinking and gambling and all that stuff again!”

The story ends here
The lesson here is: “we should always know where we are going, but more importantly, we should always remember where we came from”
Know matter how much money, wealth, fame we accumulate, it is important to stay grounded and remember where you came from.
And like the title of the post suggests, fly in the air, but stay on ground.
So, dear reader I hope you keep this in mind and have self –control and remember you roots. And last but not the least, keep smiling, keep working hard and keep reading my blog posts..;)

MY INSPIRATIONS

There are two people in the world who really inspire me to the core. Both are based in California, both are in there twenties, both were millionaires by the age of 20, both are masters of the online world; both made money sitting on the comp. But there is one striking difference, one of them dropped out of high school at the age of sixteen, the other attended one of the best colleges in the world. Yet I am immensely inspired and influenced by both.

GURBAKSH CHAHAL

Chahal, (born July 17, 1982) is an Indian American self-made entrepreneur, author, TV personality, and motivational speaker. By the age of 25, he founded two advertising companies worth $340 million.
When he was four, his family settled in San Jose, California. His parents had arrived with only $25 to their name, and they struggled at menial jobs to make a future for their four children.
For the Chahal family, as for many immigrants, education was paramount, but G left high school at sixteen to form Click Agents, an Internet advertising company, which he sold two years later for $40 million.

"Everything starts with a dream, a particle of our imagination that teases us of what the future could be like, as long as we fight for it"-Gurbaksh Chahal

MARK ZUCKERBERG
He is certainly one of the coolest nerds in the history of nerds. The world’s youngest billionaire, times person of the year and the CEO of facebook.
He founded Facebook in his college dorm room seven years ago.
Zuckerberg may seem like an over-sharer in the age of over-sharing. But that’s kind of the point.. In the bio section of his facebook page, Zuckerberg writes simply, “I’m trying to make the world a more open place.”
The world, it seems, is responding. The site is now the biggest social network in countries ranging from Indonesia to Colombia. Today, at least one out of every fourteen people in the world has a Facebook account. Zuckerberg, meanwhile, is becoming the boy king of Silicon Valley.
Zuckerberg––or Zuck, as he is known to nearly everyone of his acquaintance––is pale and of medium build, with short, curly brown hair and blue eyes. He’s only around five feet eight, but he seems taller, because he stands with his chest out and his back straight, as if held up by a string. His standard attire is a gray T-shirt, bluejeans, and sneakers. The typical complaint about Zuckerberg is that he’s “a robot.” He’s been overprogrammed.
Asked if he’s the same person in front of a crowd as he is with friends, Zuckerberg responded, “Yeah, same awkward person.”

"When you give everyone a voice and give people power, the system usually ends up in a really good place. So, what we view our role as, is giving people that power."

DON’T QUIT

My unit tests got over today. My overstressed, overanxious, overburdened and over-tensed mind has now adjusted to being relaxed, calm and composed again. Last night was a pretty stressful night for my tiny brain. It was 10 o’clock, I had to give math test today, I hadn’t touched 2 chapters and I was sleepy. In short, BIG TROUBLE. I felt like running away from life and getting 100% in math. I knew both were not possible. Running away and hoping and praying that I would somehow pass was obviously the easy way out. I thought that would be much better instead of staying up to do math. But then I came across a sheet of paper, which had a poem in it. I read that poem with my sleepy eyes. Then I changed my decision. I heard myself saying “I cannot give up at the last moment”. I washed my face and drank some sprite to reduce the stress and sort of activate myself. I planned out how I was going to utilize my next 2 hours to do the maximum. I did it. I was able to complete everything; I won’t say my preparation was great but it good enough. Anyways so I took the test this morning, it was awesome. I am expecting an A+.
I am guessing that you are now getting curious to know which poem changed my decision. (you might have read it before, but it is a poem worth rereading and remembering for life)
Here it is…

Dont Quit!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
when the road youre trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but do not quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Dont give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victors cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when youre hardest hit
Its when things seem worst that you must not quit

I end my blog with this beautiful poem. Hope it inspired you to not quit and keep working hard for all the As that you want in life.
